Elisha has been actively seeking employment since she lost her job in February, but she has not had any luck yet. Following her loss of employment, she lost her health insurance as well which has been imperative for her to have due to her mental health struggles that have been exacerbated by this civil case and reliving her trauma. She is unfortunately still struggling to pay for basic necessities such as groceries, medication, cat litter/food, and monthly bills.
That being said, your support and generosity have not gone unnoticed. You have made a significant impact on her through the months of March and April, and she is incredibly grateful to be in a position where she is able to ask for and receive help.
By the end of this, she hopes to have the resources and strength needed to give back to her community in a meaningful way and continue to advocate for survivors of SA and abuse.
February 2026:
A civil complaint has been filed against Elisha alleging 16 counts of defamation and seeking $400,000 in damages. The complaint was filed in February 2026, and court proceedings are scheduled between April 2026 and February 2027.
The statements at issue involve allegations of sexual assault and non-consensual recording that she previously shared. Those allegations remain alleged, and the legal process is ongoing.
Regardless of where this case ultimately lands, defending against a multi-count civil lawsuit of this magnitude requires substantial financial resources. Legal fees and litigation costs could potentially exceed $75,000 if the case proceeds through discovery and toward trial.
These expenses include attorney retainers, hourly litigation work, court filings, depositions, expert consultation, and trial preparation.
She is currently unemployed due to a rescinded job offer following her speaking out and facing approximately $2,000 per month in essential living expenses while preparing her legal defense.
We are starting with an initial goal of $25,000 to cover the immediate attorney retainer, early court costs, and basic living expenses while she secures representation. Litigation requires significant upfront funding, and early support makes a critical difference. This is the first phase of what may be a long legal process.
This fundraiser exists to help ensure she has access to representation and basic stability during this process. She is actively seeking legal aid and exploring all available options, but civil litigation requires immediate funding long before resolution.
Speaking about alleged sexual violence can carry profound personal and financial consequences. Access to legal defense should not depend on someone’s income.
Your support helps provide legal resources and essential stability while this case moves forward through the courts.
Thank you for standing with Elisha.
