Friends & family,
As many of you know, Marcos and I were overjoyed to be expecting our baby boy during the first week of September. Because we conceived through IVF, we knew this would likely be considered a high-risk pregnancy and that an early delivery might be possible. What we never expected was for me to go into extremely early preterm labor.
Despite several days in the hospital and every effort to keep our son safe inside a little longer, I ultimately delivered our baby boy via emergency C-section.
This has been the most terrifying and traumatic experience of our lives, but through it all, our son, Easton Carter, is here. He is alive, and he is fighting hard every single day for a chance at life.
We are humbly asking for prayers, positive thoughts, and any donations for our family during this incredibly difficult time. Easton will remain in a Level IV NICU for the foreseeable future and will require extensive medical care, treatments, and procedures over the coming months. Donations will help with mounting medical expenses, time away from work, and the daily hour-long commute each way to be by his side.
People often say it takes a village when a baby is born. We now understand the depth of that saying in a way we never imagined. While we are surrounded by love and support, Marcos and I are navigating this journey far from much of our family, which has made everything even more challenging.
More than anything, we ask for your prayers. Please keep Easton in your hearts as he continues to fight with all the strength his tiny body has.
We will continue to share updates as we can.
Thank you all so much for your love, support, and kindness during this time. We truly love and appreciate each and every one of you.
