Help Support Duffy and His Children During His Cancer Battle,

My name is Tierney Henderson and my brother, Duff, is a loving father of two who has been fighting an incredibly difficult battle with cancer for the past three years. As you may know, we are an incredibly private family and we have not shared very much about his fight. During all this time, he has rarely been able to work for more than a month or so at a time because of treatments, complications, and hospital stays. The financial strain has become overwhelming, and our family is doing everything we can to keep him and his children afloat.

His fight began in July of 2024, when he underwent surgery to remove a testicle after doctors discovered a tumor. At first, we were hopeful that the surgery had taken care of the cancer. His tumor markers appeared to disappear from his bloodwork, and we believed the worst might be behind him.

But in January of 2025, he began experiencing back pain that he initially thought were kidney stones. After more testing, he received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes.

His chemotherapy began in March of 2025, and he endured five rounds of intense chemo cycles, each intended to be three weeks on and one week off. Unfortunately, he experienced numerous complications that stretched those treatments out for months. What was supposed to be a shorter treatment period lasted from March all the way through August of 2025.

After months of fighting through chemo, hospital visits, and setbacks, we finally received incredible news. In August of 2025, his scans and bloodwork were clear and he was declared in remission.

For the first time in a long time, life began to feel normal again.
We had about five months where he was able to return to work and begin trying to rebuild financially after losing so much time and income during treatment.

Then everything changed again.

On New Year’s Eve, he experienced severe back pain and went to the emergency room. There he received more heartbreaking news...the tumors had returned in the exact same place as before, and they had grown larger and more aggressive.

His oncologist was shocked by how quickly the cancer had returned and immediately referred him to a specialist in New Brunswick for more advanced care.

He was admitted to Community Medical Center on January 1st, and on February 4th he was transferred to the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, where he has been receiving treatment and living ever since.

His current treatment plan is extremely intense. He is receiving continuous infusion chemotherapy, meaning he undergoes five straight days of chemotherapy at a time, followed by a short break where he should ideally be able to come home for a week or two before the next round.

Unfortunately, after his very first round of this treatment, he developed a serious blood infection. His fever spiked to 104 degrees, and he even lost consciousness for a period of time. Because of this, doctors felt it was safest for him to remain in the hospital between treatments.

Because of these complications, he has not been home since January 1st.

The facility caring for him is truly incredible. The staff at the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center have been amazing! He is well cared for, constantly monitored, and surrounded by people doing everything they can to help him get better. Despite everything he is facing, he continues to keep a positive attitude and strong spirit.

But one of the hardest parts of this situation is that he has not been able to see his children since January 1st. Because of hospital rules, children under 12 are not allowed to visit, which has been heartbreaking for all of them.

While he continues to fight this disease, the financial burden continues to grow. His medical bills are staggering, and throughout this process he has faced ongoing challenges with insurance coverage. At the same time, his children still need stability, support, and care.

Right now, his children are splitting their time between their mother’s home and our family’s home. My parents and I have been doing everything we can to support both him and his kids throughout this entire journey.

He has completed two rounds of this new treatment so far, with three more rounds still ahead. We remain hopeful that this will finally be the treatment that allows him to beat this cancer and return home to his children for good.

But right now, he needs help.

We are asking for support to help cover:
• Mounting medical expenses
• Everyday bills and living costs
• Support and stability for his children while he is hospitalized

Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference for him and his young family during this incredibly difficult time. And if you are unable to donate, sharing his story would mean just as much.

Our hope is simplly that Duffy can focus entirely on fighting cancer and getting back home to his kids without the crushing stress of financial hardship hanging over him.

Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for supporting him in any way you can.
