Hello! My name is Tammy Higgins Dobler and I am starting a GoFundMe for my brother, Donny, who will be undergoing 25 sessions of radiation over a 5-week period at MD Anderson in Houston, TX, due to start on December 28th.

My brother has been battling brain cancer since 2011 when he was originally diagnosed with Stage II oligodendroglioma, which is a rare type of slow-growing brain tumor that arises from oligodendrocytes. At that time, he underwent surgery and had periodic MRIs to monitor for any changes. He was only 38 years old!

In 2020, during COVID, Donny missed some of his appointments and had a breakthrough seizure at work. Upon examination, it was discovered Donny's cancer had come back, and after a second surgery, was found to be Stage III oligodendroglioma - IDH mutant, which means it is faster-growing and more aggressive. Over the past 5 years, Donny has had numerous treatment plans that have included radiation, several different rounds of chemotherapy that required special diets, as well as daily chemotherapy medications which don't seem to be working anymore. Donny currently continues to have tumors evolve and pop up in various places, which include the ventricles of his brain as well as within his past surgery site (resection cavity).

It is our hope that Donny's radiation treatments will give him more time with his family! Any donated funds will be used for travel expenses and the hotel stay in Houston while he is receiving his radiation.
