Standing with Donald King and His Loved Ones

My name is McKenzie King, and I am the daughter of Donald King, a beloved father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend to so many.

On Saturday, February 28, 2026, our lives changed in an instant. My father was struck by a drunk and unlicensed driver. Since the accident, he has been fighting for his life and remains in critical condition on hospice.

In the days following the crash, family members have rushed to be by his side, traveling from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Montana. Friends, coworkers, and members of his extended community have also come together to support him during this incredibly difficult time.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help, which is why this fundraiser was created. While we never expected to ask for support like this, donations will help our family with medical expenses, travel costs, and the financial strain that comes with a long and uncertain recovery. Funds will also help ensure that my father’s responsibilities and property can be maintained for his children and grandchildren, as well as support any therapy and care he or the family may need moving forward.

My father, Donald King, is truly an extraordinary man. He has served as a Correctional Officer at Lake County Prison, dedicating his life to protecting others and serving his community. He is the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He has always been supportive of his family, even during times when he may not have agreed with our choices, and he has a way of making anyone around him smile or laugh.

Outside of work, my dad is a proud motorcycle rider and enjoy riding with his club members. Riding has always been one of his greatest passions, and the love and support pouring in from the riding community and friends across the country has meant the world to us.

To me, he is more than all of those titles. He is my backbone, my best friend, and my biggest supporter. Through every stage of my life, the good days and the hard ones, he has never let me face anything alone.

Right now, we are asking for prayers, support, and if you are able, a donation of any size. Every contribution helps ease the burden on our family so we can focus on what matters most: being there for my dad while he fights to recover.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, for your kindness, and for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Edit: As of March 7, 2026 @9:50pm, my best friend, my hero, and the absolute best father I could’ve ever asked for has sadly passed away.. at this time the family and friends are grieving and just ask for time and respect while we swallow this very hard pill. Thank you everybody who has sent in prayers, donations, or even shared core memories they’ve had the chance to share with him. He was such a supportive, loving, and outgoing man with a soul filled with so much light to share with the world. He’s made an impact on so many and just hearing about it makes me so much more proud to know I had that type of man as a father. Deeply from the bottom of my heart you guys are so appreciated❤️
