Hello, my name is Courtney Flemons. This is my son, Deshawn. I have actually contemplated on creating this out of fear of asking for help. My son was recently the victim of a horrifying and intentional act of violence that has completely changed our lives.
He was targeted by a driver who deliberately tried to run him over and then proceeded to drag him with their car going 50/60mph—for nearly four blocks. What should have been an ordinary day turned into a nightmare that no parent or child should ever have to experience. I remember myself standing in the road screaming his name over and over again. At one point, I could no longer see him and feared the worst.
He was rushed to the trauma emergency room, where he received urgent medical care. While we are incredibly grateful that he survived, the physical injuries are only part of the battle. My son is now struggling with PTSD and will need ongoing medical treatment, therapy, and support to begin healing from this trauma.
As his parent, I need to be by his side through every appointment, every sleepless night, and every step of his recovery. Because of this, I am having to take time off work, and we are now facing serious financial strain.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Medical bills and ongoing treatment
• Therapy for PTSD and emotional recovery, along with physical therapy
• Transportation to appointments
• Lost income while I care for my son
• Daily living expenses during this difficult time and more.
We have such a long road ahead of us. If you are able to donate, no amount is too small. Every dollar helps us focus on what matters most—my son’s healing and recovery.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story. Your support, prayers, and kindness mean more to us than words can express.
Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
