Delaney is facing another chapter in her fight against a rare brain tumor. She has what is called a macroprolactinoma, a non-cancerous tumor that grows on the pituitary gland at the base of the brain.
In October of 2022, Delaney underwent brain surgery at Henry Ford Hospital to remove the tumor. Her surgeons were able to remove the majority of the tumor but could not safely remove the remaining portion due to it’s location in the sinus cavity near the optic nerves. Removing the remaining piece would have risked damage to both her vision and the surrounding structures.
Flash forward to 2026 and the tumor has grown back. Recent scans have shown that the new growth has expanded to encompass the carotid artery, making treatment even more complex than the first time. After careful review, the University of Michigan Tumor Board has recommended that Delaney undergo a second debulking surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. It has already been determined that they will not able to remove it entirely. Radiation therapy may follow the surgery to kill the remaining tumor cells.
As you can imagine, this journey places a tremendous emotional and financial strain on Delaney and her family. The upcoming surgery, recovery time, follow-up treatments and ongoing care will require significant time away from work for both Delaney and her parents as they all focus on her healing and recovery.
This fundraiser is focused on the following:
- Medical Expenses not covered by insurance
- Travel to see specialists and ongoing treatment costs
- Lost wages which cover day to day living. This applies to both Delaney and her parents.
- Ongoing care and support related to her recovery.
Any and all contributions, no matter the size, will help ease the burden during this incredibly challenging time. We realize not everyone is able to commit financially, but simply sharing Delaney's story is also a huge help.
Most importantly, we ask for your thoughts, love, encouragement and prayers for Delaney as she prepares for surgery and the road to recovery.
Thank you for standing with Delaney and her family.
