On February 14, 2026, DC Cathey began experiencing severe chest pains that quickly turned into a life-threatening emergency. He went to urgent care seeking help and was then transported by ambulance for immediate medical attention.

Shortly after arrival, DC underwent emergency open heart surgery.

He is currently in recovery at Geisinger Cardiology Danville Hospital in Pennsylvania, with intention of coming back to Cape Coral, FL for recovery.

If you know DC, then you’ve likely been touched by his incredible gift of friendship and or his art. As a tattoo artist by trade, his work is not just his passion — it is his livelihood.

Because of this sudden medical crisis and the major surgery that followed, DC will be unable to work for an extended period of time as his body heals.

While we are incredibly grateful that the surgery was successful, this is just the beginning of a long road ahead.

As DC recovers with no health insurance coverage, he will face:

DC’s home is in Cape Coral, Florida, and once he is discharged, the financial burden of recovery and post-surgery care will continue to grow. Being out of work for an extended time means the loss of income needed to cover even the most basic needs.

This journey will be long — physically, emotionally, and especially financially.
