My two brothers and I are starting this gofundme for our mom, Dawn Kotuce, who is fighting stage IDC 2B breast cancer. I would like to start this off by telling you a little bit about her and her story. Dawn is an elderly caregiver. She has been in this field for 25 years and has spent the past 10 years working with specifically dementia patients. In 2020, her mother was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer. We were all told she had about 6 months to live. Dawn dropped everything to take care of her mother. She sat by her bedside the entire time and took care of her night and day. In early July of this year, our mother was diagnosed with IDC stage 2B breast cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes. She has been to numerous doctors and is currently undergoing chemotherapy weekly. Prior to the cancer, she was very outgoing, healthy, and loved being able to go to work with her patients, she was still going into work during the beginning despite her cancer journey.

She is now unable to work and had to go on a leave of absence. Her doctors have told her for months that it would be too much for her, and it finally caught up. Due to her not being able to go to work, she is now unable to pay her bills. She lives in fear every day of her water, heat, electricity, or other necessities being turned off. The money raised will go towards her bills and any other medical costs she has. Along with all of this, she will be getting a double mastectomy in February or March this coming year. Our mother has helped the community for 25 years, and she is now reaching out for help for herself in this time of need.
