Help David Through Recovery and Financial Hardship

David has always been the kind of person who’d give the shirt off his back to someone in need.

For 38 years, he worked at Olum’s, dedicating nearly four decades of his life to one company. When he unexpectedly lost that job a few years ago, he didn’t stop working. Instead, he did whatever he could to support himself and his family, including delivering for DoorDash and Amazon. He just turned 60 years old in April.

The loss of his long-term career created financial challenges that have followed him ever since. To make ends meet, he was forced to withdraw money from his retirement savings, resulting in a significant tax burden that he is still trying to pay off today.

As if that wasn’t enough, his health began to decline. Over the past several months, he has endured countless doctor appointments, hospital visits, testing, and ultimately major double bypass heart surgery. Because of his health and recovery, he has been unable to work for nearly four months.

Before his surgery, my dad worked through the state caring for elderly individuals, helping them bathe, assisting with daily tasks, and providing compassionate care to people who needed it most. Even while facing his own health challenges, he continued showing up to help others.

He is scheduled to return to work in July, but his future remains uncertain. His position has required an hour-long commute each way, and involves physically demanding work that may no longer be realistic after heart surgery. Now, closer to home, he is actively searching for a less strenuous job, but finding one has proven difficult.

On top of everything else, he is now dealing with ongoing vehicle problems, making transportation another source of stress at a time when he can least afford it.

David also has a young son, which makes trying to pick up extra work through DoorDash or other gig jobs even more challenging. He has spent years doing everything possible to stay afloat without asking for help.

If you know my dad, you know he is not someone who asks for anything. He is the person who shows up when someone needs help, lends a hand when nobody else will, and continues giving even when he has very little himself.

He has tried to keep his struggles private because he never wants to worry anyone. But after losing his long-term career, draining retirement savings to survive, facing major heart surgery, months without income, mounting bills, and an uncertain future, he needs support.

Donations will help cover lost wages during his recovery, essential household bills, transportation costs, medical-related expenses, groceries, and financial obligations that arose after he was forced to withdraw retirement funds to make ends meet, while working toward getting back on his feet.

Any amount, no matter how small, will help ease the burden and allow him to focus on his recovery and future. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for any support you can provide, even sharing this post will mean just as much. Thank you for helping someone who has spent his life helping others.
