Hello I’m Dave or as some of you know me as ColonCancerDad. I’m a proud father of two of the most amazing boys and I’ve been battling stage 4 colon cancer for the last 3 years. I’ve beat it a couple times now to only be told shortly after the cancer has come back or spread again. This time it’s come back in my good lung and not the one they’ve already taken 1/3 of but I’m staying positive that Im alive and very grateful for that.

Anyways why I’m here is I’ve run into some money troubles once again and actually should have started this new one a few months ago. In my head I kept thinking I’d be able to get back to work and I wouldn’t have to do this again but I’m in a tough spot. For full transparency I had another GFM where I raised almost 10k last year but just like this one I delayed making that one too so most of that went to playing catch up. I was able to get caught up and stay current with almost everything until I ran out of money a couple months before the end of last year. This is really embarrassing to me but like I found with the last one that being honest with people about my situation and financial issues help relieve a lot of stress and a lot less phone calls. *The money will be used for ongoing medical expenses like copays and medications as well as living expenses, it all comes from the same account and I’m broke across the board. I’d love to visit my son before surgery but even if I were to raise enough for that I don’t know if my health would be good enough to travel currently.

As of yesterday the game plan right now after looking at the ct scans and bloodwork with my drs yesterday is to get a pet scan and breathing study done with the intentions the surgeon I meet in two weeks wants to do surgery to remove the spot in my lung. There’s a few different surgery options from what I understand but will know which one he decides at that appointment. There’s other plans with radiation and or chemo on the table if the test results from the pet scans and breathing study are off.
