My son, Daryien, is a bright and loving 13-year-old who has been battling intractable left frontal lobe epilepsy since 2021. After multiple medications failed to control his seizures, we were told that brain surgery (resection) is his only chance for a better life.

This decision is the hardest thing our family has ever faced. Daryien’s epilepsy has severely affected his quality of life, with seizures occurring every 1.5 to 2 hours. Simple activities that most people take for granted, like showering in private, sleeping alone, and riding a bike, have become more of a wish for him. Despite these challenges, he remains hopeful that one day he will return to doing the things he loves, such as running track, coding, and writing his stories. He looks forward to the day he can live without constant interruptions from seizures and simply be a kid again.

The upcoming surgery brings both hope and many uncertainties, along with financial burdens. We are raising funds to help cover the growing medical bills, ongoing therapy, and lost income as we focus on Daryien’s recovery.
