Standing with Ciera on Her Healing Journey

Greetings,

My name is Ciera Frederick. I’m an Actor and Screenwriter originally from Palm Beach County, Florida. I’m a proud graduate of Florida State University, and I currently live in Los Angeles, California, where I’ve been building my career in entertainment while working as a Substitute Teacher with LAUSD.

Storytelling has always been my passion. Teaching has been my way of giving back. Every day, I’ve been balancing auditions, writing sessions, and classrooms full of students — all while chasing the dream I’ve worked for my entire life.

Last week, everything changed in an instant.

I was hit by a car.

What started as a normal day turned into an emergency that left me hospitalized with a fractured pelvis and tailbone. I had to undergo surgery immediately. The pain was overwhelming, but even more overwhelming was the realization that I would not be walking out of the hospital the same way I walked in.

I am now in recovery and learning how to walk again.

Something as simple as getting out of bed, sitting comfortably, or using the restroom has become a daily challenge. My body is healing, but it will take months of intentional rehabilitation, professional treatment, and support to fully recover.

Because I work as a substitute teacher and pursue acting and writing freelance, I do not have the kind of financial safety net that makes an accident like this manageable. The medical bills alone are daunting — and that’s before considering the long-term recovery care required.

I am raising $12,000 to help cover medical expenses, including:

• Ongoing physical therapy and rehabilitation
• Medical injections and follow-up specialist appointments
• Mental health therapy to process the trauma of the accident
• Home health aide support during the most vulnerable stages of recovery
• A mobility scooter to move safely and independently
• A recliner chair for proper recovery positioning
• Safety equipment and accessibility tools for my home
• Unexpected medical costs not fully covered by insurance

While $12,000 is our immediate goal, the truth is that recovery is unpredictable. Any amount raised beyond this will go directly toward continuing care and ensuring I can heal without the constant fear of financial collapse.

This has been one of the hardest seasons of my life. There are moments of frustration, pain, and vulnerability that I never imagined facing this way. But there is also gratitude — gratitude to be alive. Gratitude for skilled doctors. Gratitude for community.

I am determined to walk fully again. I am determined to return to my students. I am determined to step back onto a stage and into writers’ rooms. I am determined that this will be a chapter in my story — not the end of it.

If you are able to donate, truly no amount is too small. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser means just as much.

Your support will help me focus on healing instead of surviving bills. It will help me regain independence. It will help me rebuild.

Thank you for standing with me during this vulnerable time. I believe deeply in resilience, in community, and in the power of people showing up for one another.
