Hello everyone, I am the husband of my beautiful wife, Cecilia Conant. As many of you know, and for those that don’t, she was recently diagnosed with triple positive breast cancer (estrogen, progesterone, and HER2 positive). When we met with oncology, she informed us that she is Stage 3 and will be undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, and radiation.

The good news is, after being over 20 years of active duty military, TRICARE is going to take care of all of the medical treatment expenses. However, we live in Patuxent River, MD, and my wife’s care will be done at Georgetown Hospital in DC. While only 51 miles away on average, it takes about an hour and a half to two hours to get there. Having two kids and no family within 2000 miles, childcare is unfortunately out of the question. Although TRICARE has a travel reimbursement plan for medical expenses, the medical expenses have to be over 100 miles away from your primary care.

I’m not asking for help with medical expenses. I’m asking for help because we are going to need to stay the night in Georgetown once a week. My wife is entering a trial at the end of the month and the treatments will take anywhere from six to eight hours. Between the kids' school schedule and DC traffic, driving back and forth in the same day is just not possible. Any help you can give would greatly support me and my family during our difficult time.
