On behalf of the Ruiz-Trevino family, we are raising funds for Cassandra Ruiz who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She is a loving wife to my brother Sammy Ruiz, a devoted mother to five amazing children, a proud 2004 graduate of La Feria High School, a sister, and a daughter.

Many in our community know Cassy from her years of volunteering with the Mercedes Tigers Baseball Diamond Club, where she was always ready to help at the concession stand and cheer on the boys or you may know her within the fishing community as an avid female angler in a male dominated industry. Now, she’s facing a fight no one ever wants to face.

Cassy will need surgery and ongoing treatment, with some appointments requiring travel to out-of-town locations. While the younger children are still in school, the older kids will be stepping up in a big way, helping care for their siblings while Cassy and Sammy travel for procedures.

Our family is leaning on God’s love, support, and guidance during this time. We are blessed with friends and family who have already helped us coordinate care and appointments, but there are still expenses not covered by insurance like travel, lodging, and other out-of-pocket medical costs.
