Last Thursday 4/23/26, Cassie went to the walk in at Marshfield Clinic Wausau with what she thought was just a cold. She found out that she had bilateral pneumonia and started taking antibiotics that same day.
On Sunday night 4/26/26, Cassie spiked a fever of 104° and her family told her she needed to go in to get a second opinion immediately. Upon arriving at Aspirus Wausau on Sunday night she was diagnosed with Sepsis caused by pneumonia and would be getting admitted that night.
Cassie and her boyfriend Matthew have a 3 month old little boy at home who Cassie is the primary care taker of during the week while Matthew works. With Cassie being hospitalized Matthew is not able to work and Cassie was supposed to return to work this week from maternity leave.
On Wednesday 4/29/26 we learned that Cassie has a more severe form of pneumonia than originally thought and now is on a different course of antibiotics. If this course doesn’t work within the next day she will have to undergo an invasive procedure to remove the fluid from her lungs and for them to find out what kind of bacteria is causing the infection.
Money is tight as Matthew is off work taking care of their child and Cassie can’t return to work now until after she is better.
