In January, my dear friend and colleague, Carla DeMarco was diagnosed with Endometiral Cancer. Thankfully, the cancer was caught early and her stage is 1a.

She underwent surgery in February and had a successful recovery. Following surgery, doctors highly recommended both chemotherapy and radiation because of the aggressive type of cancer that it is, to decrease the chance of it returning.

Carla has been such a trooper through all of this and her faith in God has helped her to remain at peace each step of the way. She has decided to follow the medical recommendations for the best chance of recovery. Since, April 20th, she started chemotherapy, which will be given once every three weeks, for a total of six times. Radiation will be started in a few weeks as well. As long as her white blood cell counts remain high so that the treatment stays on schedule, she should be continuing chemo until at least August.

Overall, Carla continues to be strong and do very well, despite experiencing many harsh symptoms from chemotherapy. She has been able to continue weight training and working on a limited basis.

However, the financial burden of not being able to work as much, as well as all of the medical appointments/copays, and extraneous costs, continue to be a hardship for her as she focuses on her recovery.

Anything that you can do contribute, to help her during this time, would be greatly appreciated. There is also a meal train being circulated, if you would prefer to contribute that way. Cooking and meal prep can be difficult, especially on chemo weeks, when she feels the most sick and fatigued. Again, we appreciate whatever you can do.
