Hi everyone,

My name is Kayla, and I’m starting this GoFundMe to help my grandfather, Carl, during an incredibly difficult time for our family.

Carl has recently been diagnosed with several serious medical conditions, including Parkinson’s disease and dementia. He also just finished battling prostate cancer, undergoing radiation treatment that caused additional complications and weakened his overall health. Together, these challenges led to a fall that resulted in a broken femur.

He is currently in rehabilitation, and it has become clear that returning home without proper support would be unsafe for him moving forward.

Even now, while in rehab and facing so many challenges of his own, Carl’s biggest concern isn’t himself; it’s us. He continues to worry about his family and the stress this situation has placed on everyone else, just as he always has.

For more than 30 years, Carl has been the backbone of our family. He devoted his life to caring for my mom, who has secondary progressive MS, never once asking for help despite the physical, emotional, and financial toll it took. He always put his family first.

Now, the roles have reversed, and Carl needs care himself.

The cost of medical bills, rehabilitation, and arranging safe, long-term care has quickly become overwhelming. We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover:

• Medical and hospital bills

• Rehabilitation and recovery costs

• In-home or assisted care to ensure his safety

• Other necessary expenses related to his ongoing care

Asking for help is not something Carl, or our family, ever imagined doing. But we are at a point where we truly need support to ensure he receives the care and dignity he deserves.
