On October 28th, our beautiful daughter, Brynlei’, entered the world, full of promise and joy. But shortly after her birth, our world turned upside down when we learned she had a complex congenital heart defect: Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, with Mitral and Aortic Atresia. We had no warning before her birth, and nothing could have prepared us for the journey ahead.

Brynlei has already undergone her first critical surgery — the Norwood procedure — a complex and delicate operation that serves as the first lifeline for babies born with HLHS. But her fight is far from over. Because of the severity of her condition, she will still need two additional open-heart surgeries, the Glenn and the Fontan, each one crucial in helping her body adapt to a heart that must work twice as hard to keep her alive. Knowing that our tiny girl must face these procedures is overwhelming, and yet we hold onto hope with everything in us. Watching her fragile chest rise and fall after surgery, seeing her fight for every breath, and holding her small hand in ours while machines hum around her is a mixture of fear, love, hope, and heartache that no words can ever fully capture.

Being at her bedside every day means we are unable to work, and balancing our time between the hospital and our other children at home has been overwhelming. There are moments when we watch her little fingers curl around ours and feel an immense love and hope, but then the weight of bills, transportation costs, meals at the hospital, and daily necessities reminds us of the strain we face.

Even something as simple as driving back and forth from the hospital, preparing meals on the go, or comforting our other children who miss us while we are at Brynlei's side, has become a daily challenge. Each day is a test of endurance, but Brynlei's courage inspires us to keep going. She smiles through the pain, she fights through the tubes and monitors, and she reminds us what truly matters: love, family, and hope.
