Introduction
On November 5, Brittanie Kehr went to the emergency room, expecting answers to what seemed like a sudden health concern. Instead, imaging revealed a mass on the right side of her brain. What followed were weeks filled with additional testing, uncertainty, and life-changing news. On December 3, Brittanie underwent a brain biopsy, which confirmed the diagnosis of oligodendroglioma — a rare brain tumor.
The tumor is located in the right posterior region of her brain, near areas responsible for visual processing. After MRI imaging, biopsy, and pathology review, Brittanie was diagnosed with oligodendroglioma, IDH-mutant, 1p/19q-codeleted, WHO Grade 2. While this type of tumor is considered treatable, it still requires major brain surgery and careful long-term medical care.
On January 7, Brittanie is scheduled to undergo a craniotomy to surgically remove the tumor. Following surgery, she will need a meaningful period of rest and recovery, including time away from work and daily responsibilities. A follow-up appointment with oncology is scheduled for January 20 to review post-surgical results and determine whether chemotherapy and/or radiation will be necessary.
Why We Are Raising Funds
This diagnosis has brought unexpected emotional, physical, and financial challenges. Brain surgery and recovery are demanding, and Brittanie will be unable to work for a period of time while focusing on healing. In addition to surgery, ongoing medical appointments, possible chemotherapy or radiation, and recovery-related needs create a significant financial burden.
We are raising funds to help support Brittanie with medical expenses, recovery costs, and everyday living expenses during her time away from work, so she can focus fully on her health and recovery.
