My name is Kailey & I’m creating this GoFundMe to raise funds for my dad’s medical emergency.

Many of you may not know, but my dad is a meat cutter at a local grocery store. In October of 2025, he sliced his finger with a filet knife. The cut became so bothersome that he scheduled an appointment with his PCP. He began antibiotics and was referred to a local surgical center to have a specialist look at it.

At this point, two different specialists at the same office gave two different diagnoses, but ultimately the one who saw my dad said it looked “fine”. My dad continued with work, antibiotics and seeing his PCP. Nothing has helped his finger heal.

Fast forward to March of this year, his finger is still feverish, red, and swollen. Despite antibiotic treatments, his finger and the infection has continued to get worse. At this point, he’s been prescribed every antibiotic he can have and we are afraid he has developed an infection from antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Recently, he’s had an x-ray and an MRI to determine how bad the infection is internally. The x-ray revealed that the infection has become so deep that it has eaten away at the bone and he has lost function at his top knuckle. We are waiting for the results of the MRI, but we know it is entirely possible that depending on how far the infection has spread into his soft tissue, he may lose his entire finger. He has surgery on his left hand this Wednesday.

Unfortunately, that means he will be out of work for an unknown amount of time while he heals. He has already spent money on numerous doctor’s appointments with his PCP, specialists and medicine. The unexpected cost of doctors, specialists, diagnostics and surgery will put a financial strain on him that he was not expecting.

If you know my dad, Brandon, then you know he always helps others but never asks for help in return. I’m organizing this GoFundMe to help him through this unpredictable time in his life, because I know he would never ask for help himself.
