My name is Jamie, and two of my very close friends are having a harrowing journey.

Two months ago, Bethany began having some severe health problems. She was losing weight rapidly and struggling to eat and digest food. Recently, Bethany began having extreme pain in her leg to the point where she lost the ability to walk. This progressed into a struggle to use her arms as well. Several trips to the doctor, urgent care, and hospital found little wrong with her. Suddenly last week, Bethany became aware of a large abscess on her leg. She was rushed to the hospital, and they have recently discovered a severe bone infection. A surgery found that the infection would require more complicated care. She is now being transferred to another hospital across the state for a skin graft and weeks of hospitalization.

During this time, Bethany's incredibly dedicated sister had been doing everything possible to take care of Bethany. Ashley is managing a lot, including direct care for Bethany, continuing to work as possible, caring for their mother who recently underwent hip surgery, and managing the home that they share. Since Bethany's hospitalization, Ashley has been sleeping in the hospital. Now that Bethany is being transferred across the state, Ashley is planning to make weekly trips to visit her and take care of her.
