As some of you may know, Bert was originally diagnosed with cancer in 2016. It has since metastasized to other parts of his body. Bert's treatment journey has begun in Mexico.

After getting redirected from doctor to doctor in the Canadian healthcare system, the treatment that they suggested for his aggressive, rapidly growing malignant tumor of the oropharynx Squamous Cell Carcinoma Stage 3 ( tongue cancer), included removing the tongue. This would have taken away a lot of his quality of life. Bert and Marylin made the decision to explore alternative avenues of treatments. After having good luck with the treatments he received for his first cancer in Mexico in 2016, they decided to explore that avenue again. So far the treatments have included; a trachea, stoma (feeding tube), and a port, as well as radiation. The aggressiveness of the cancer has expanded the tongue, making it not possible for him to eat, drink, or breathe without those interventions.

We are reaching out to families, friends, and the community for support. Bert will be facing significant financial expenses including; hospital stays, radiation, travel expenses, meals, and extensive surgeries. All of which are not covered by any insurance plans. All of Bert's expenses plus the expenses of having his loving wife Marylin by his side, are growing by the day.

So far the journey has been tough, but he has been responding well to the treatments. He is fighting very hard and with your support we can bring Bert home healthy!

We have started a GoFundMe to help cover the financial burden, allowing Bert to focus on healing. So far we are 5 weeks in and nearing 100,000 dollars, with costs of the medical treatments accumulating daily. With an expected 4 more weeks of treatments.
