Our Ben Fink...son, brother, husband, father and friend is facing the toughest battle of his life, and our family urgently needs your prayers and support.
In early February 2026, a little over a week after his son's birthday, Ben at 45 years old was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, an aggressive cancer originating in his colon that has metastasized to his liver and brain. The brain cancer diagnosis puts him in the rare 3.4% bracket of people who have had this specific cancer spread to the brain stem. On February 17th, he underwent surgery to partially remove the tumor in his brain stem and since has received 5 high doses of radiation to hopefully eradicate the rest of the tumor. He currently remains in rehab waiting to go home to begin treatment on the rest of the cancer in his body.
Those who know Ben, know he is a man of God who loves his family and has a gentle soul always willing to help and/or give to those in need. What some may not know is that he is a fighter and he is fierce! When he sets his mind to something, he's all in. He recently won a very personal fight. After over 20 years away from martial arts, he started taking taekwondo with his son and at the end of 2025 he achieved his long-time goal of earning his 1st degree blackbelt.
Though Ben is surrounded by a strong support system consisting of family, friends, his employer and the Lord, this current battle has brought many unexpected physical, emotional and financial challenges for our family as a whole. He is the sole provider for his wife Rebecca and 15-year-old son, Asher. Ben is also weighted with concern for his disabled parents who live on property with them, as well as his older sister, Tiffany who lives in a group home for the disabled. Along with the normal daily financial obligations, the added financial strain that often comes with a cancer diagnosis is overwhelming. The average total cost of treatment for Ben's diagnosed cancer can run upwards of $300,000 , even with insurance. The co-pays, treatment cost, medications, home healthcare, fuel, possible lodging for long stays away from home, upgrades to his home to accommodate his recovery and healing are all new, unexpected and unavoidable financial obligations.
The road ahead is long and steep, but Ben is a fighter and giving up is not an option for him. He is determined and ready to fight for his life, his family and their future together. One of his biggest priorities is keeping life stable for Asher. Keeping his schooling and his martial arts front and center so that this part of his childhood may remain "normal" while his dad fights for his life.
