My name is Jessica and I am the mother of 3 incredible children, Maliyah, Asia, and Keenan. Maliyah & Asia are identical twins and since birth, Asia, the smaller twin, has had many health challenges to say the least. One of the biggest issue is she was born with chronic kidney disease and chronic kidney failure. We were extremely blessed to have skipped totally over dialysis throughout her journey and we recently received a deceased donor kidney on 10/28/23. She has done really well up until this point now. We later on found out that her donor was EBV (Epstein Barr virus) positive. This is a common risk with an organ transplant. So her team backed off anti-rejection medication to allow her own immune system a chance to fight it off. We get a specific amount of bloodwork each visit and during her annual donor anniversary visit, they recently found antibodies in her bloodwork. They did a second biopsy on her donor kidney and recently found out that she is actively in rejection. So we will be staying in the hospital for a while for certain types of medication and also transfusions to stop rejection. We will also be in and out of the clinic for the next 6 months due to monthly transfusion outpatient. I really need as many prayers for my daughter as your heart feels led. This journey has been extremely hard on all of us and I try my best to stay positive and do exactly what they say to keep my daughter alive. This mama could really use the extra help at this time; I’m not the type of person to ask for help but please, if you can’t donate because I know times are hard, PLEASE PRAY FOR HEALING!
