A Crash, a Major Surgery, and the Loss of His Best Friend — All Within the Same Week

Three weeks ago, Allen’s entire world flipped upside down — emotionally and literally.

While giving a friend a ride during her father’s celebration of life, Allen was involved in a devastating crash that completely destroyed his Corvette and left him with a shattered spine. What started as him trying to show up for someone else turned into the beginning of his own fight to recover.

Allen’s L4 vertebra was completely shattered, requiring emergency surgery to fuse L3 through L5. He’s home now and able to walk, but stairs are painful, movement is slow, and recovery will take at least three months — best-case scenario. He was officially released from the hospital today, beginning the long road of healing from home.

Heartbreak on Top of Trauma

Just days before the accident, Allen lost his 15-year-old dog, Damaon — his once-in-a-lifetime partner who had been by his side through every chapter of life. Losing Damaon alone would break anyone. Having that grief collide with a traumatic accident and major spinal surgery is more than any person should carry alone.
