My name is Brooklyn, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my mom, Alisa, and her husband, Eric, who are going through a very hard season in their lives.

In the last few short weeks, both my Mom and Eric have gone through health concerns, hospital surgeries, and a death in the family.

On December 5th, Eric’s grandmother passed away. Only a few days later on December 11th, Eric underwent hip replacement surgery. That same night, while sitting in the hospital, my mom learned that doctors had found a malignant tumor in her breast.

Eric was released from the hospital on December 12th, but immediately began having issues after his hip replacement surgery. Within a week, Eric was unable to walk. He went to the emergency room at LMH where he was initially diagnosed with gout and sent home with medication that did not help the symptoms resolve.

On December 21st, my mom received a diagnosis from the doctor that she has invasive ductal carcinoma. As they were trying to process this news, Eric’s condition continued to get worse. On December 24th, Eric's primary care doctor ordered a stat vascular ultrasound that revealed a blood clot in his leg. He was placed on blood thinners and sent home, but his leg continued to lose circulation.

On December 29th, Eric was sent back to the emergency room. Doctors discovered that two of the three arteries in his leg were completely blocked, leaving his foot without blood flow. He was transferred to OSU for emergency surgery, where he underwent a femoral bypass to save his leg. There is a long and uncertain recovery ahead, and he may still lose toes in the future.

On December 31st, my mom met with her surgeon and began the process of planning her cancer treatment. In the coming weeks, she will meet with her oncologist, and her treatment plan may include a lumpectomy and radiation.

Between major surgeries, cancer treatment, hospital stays, and recovery, both my mom and Eric are facing extended periods where working may not be possible. The medical bills, travel for care, everyday living expenses, and loss of income are adding an overwhelming financial burden on top of everything else.

I’m asking for help so my mom and Eric can focus on healing without the constant stress of financial uncertainty. Any donation, share, or message of support means more than I can put into words.
