Standing with Ajai Through Her Battle
$14,215 raised of $30K
Hello everyone. My niece, Ajai Nelson, has been diagnosed with cancer. Ajai (7 years old) has been dealing with GI issues for the past several months. After many hospital visits and restless nights, we are finally getting answers. An ultra sound revealed a mass in her abdomen and due to it's location, things are more complex. While we still await the final biopsy results, we ask for your continuous prayers. This news has been earth shattering for Carmen, Adam, their children and our entire family. As they navigate through this process and await the final results to start treatment, we ask for any kind of love and support. Whether it be a donation or a prayer, both can go a really long way. We kindly ask that Carmen, Adam, and their family are given the space and privacy they need as they navigate things during this difficult time. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support they’ve been receiving each day. At the moment, they’re unable to respond to messages and calls, but your care and understanding truly mean so much to them. If you have any questions, want updates or would like to show love or support in other ways, please reach out to myself, Carmen's sister, Angelica (Angie) Pacheco. The GoFundMe will be updated as we continue to receive information. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! Please keep Ajai and our entire family in your daily thoughts and prayers.
UPDATE 9/22/26 :
Dear Family & Friends
Ajai is closing out week 2 of radiation with a huge smile on her face!
Ajai has been full of so much joy and energy! She has been able to start online schooling and is catching up very quickly. Ajai's smile has caught so much attention and has brought so many new friends into our lives. Friends that are praying for her all over the world! We are grateful for every step in her journey and we continue to thank you all for speaking/spreading her name and her story. Thank you for all the photos that were shared, she appreciates all the support!
UPDATE 8/31/26: Ajai is doing well.
She has recovered after surgery and has completed 5 rounds of chemotherapy. Though this journey has been very difficult and challenging for her, by Gods grace, she was able to travel to Connecticut and send her older sister off to The University of Connecticut-UCONN (Go Huskies). She will begin her 6th round of chemotherapy tomorrow, August 31st. Then, on September 8th, she will begin a 6-7 week stretch of radiation. We continue to hope and pray for healing througout Ajai's journey. As we do so, we get ready to bring awareness and support all pediatric cancer children and their families.
SEPTEMBER IS PEDIATRIC CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Please join us all month long to support the children and families battling cancer. No one fights alone! #WarriorAjai #pediatriccancerawareness #pediatriccancerfighter
UPDATE 8/12/26:
Good morning friends and family! Ajai has completed round 5 of her chemotherapy treatment. Today she will receive her post hydration fluids and hopefully she is clear to go home tomorrow morning. Her body is really weak but she continues to smile! Thank you all for your love and prayers!
UPDATE 7/29/26: Ajai has completed her 4th round of chemotherapy and is home until 8/10 for her 5th round.
The pathology results from the resected tumor came back as Angiosarcoma. This new diagnosis is shocking to our family but we continue to trust in the Lord through this journey. The treatment plan still remains the same. After her 5th round of chemotherapy she will begin radiation for 6 weeks.
We thank you all for the prayers and support you have given us. Ajai's battle still continues.
UPDATE 7/24/26: Ajai started her 4th round of chemotherapy on Thursday. She is in good spirits and continues to smile everyday. We thank you all for the continuous support and prayers.
UPDATE 7/19/26: Ajai is finally home. She was able to go home last night. She will begin her 4th round of chemotherapy on Wednesday July 22nd and will have her radiation consultation this week as well.
We are so thankful and blessed to have an army of people praying for Ajai. God is truly amazing!
Ajai's journey continues and we are putting all of our trust in God for her healing and recovery.
We love you all. Thank you!
UPDATE 7/12/26: Ajai is out of bed today and starting physical therapy. Doctors are doing their best to manage her pain. Ajai needs to be able to use the restroom on her own, eat on her own and move her body. Once she is able to do all of those things, she will be able to go home. We thank you all for the endless thoughts and prayers. We ask that you continue to pray as Ajai's journey continues. Thank you all so much!
UPDATE 7/9/26:GOD IS GOOD!
Ajai is out of surgery. OUR GIRL DID IT!
The doctors were able to remove the mass. They did not want to risk cutting into her aorta, so a few rounds of radiation and chemotherapy should be able to remove the microscopic pieces that were left behind. She is in recovery now.
I just want to thank everyone one who has prayed for Ajai and my family these past few months. It has truly meant the world.
He has heard every single prayer. He has shown his presence throughout Ajai's entire journey and will continue to do so as she recovers. All Glory be to God.
UPDATE: 7/9/26:
PLEASE join us with a 7:30am prayer for Ajai as she goes into surgery today.
Heavenly Father,
We place our precious Ajai Nelson into your loving hands and trust you are already walking before her.
Though our hearts are anxious, we surrender our fears and place ALL our hope in you.
Today we pray in unity that this surgery will remove every trace of sickness from Ajai’s body.
LORD!! let this be the day that your healing is made fulfilled. We pray for complete renewal to her body, restore her to full health and navigate her toward the beautiful future you have prepared.
We ask that you walk beside every member of Ajai’s care team and shield them with your wisdom. Let them be instruments of your healing as they care for her with compassion and love.
We lift Ajai up to you and ask that you embrace her with your perfect peace. Calm every fear within her, bring comfort through every moment she may feel pain and most IMPORTANTLY let her feel the warmth of your love surrounding her completely.
We know the path ahead will not be easy but we find comfort in knowing that your love and promises remain constant. You held Ajai through every battle she’s faced and we trust that your hands will continue to protect and lead her forward.
We believe that your strength is greater than every battle and your healing is able to restore what seems impossible.
We believe that one day this chapter will be a testimony of your goodness and the incredible ways you worked through every prayer we cried. What felt impossible will become a reminder of the power, love and the hope you poured over Ajai throughout this fight.
We TRUST that your will is GOOD,
We BELIEVE that your timing is PERFECT,
We KNOW that your love NEVER fails.
In Jesus mighty name,
Amen
UPDATE 7/7/26:
God is beyond amazing!
We just received a phone call from Dr Lautz. He has been doing surgeries for about a week already and he is completely healed. Amen! The images were able to tell him that the tumor is above the kidney so there is no need to cut kidney function, which is amazing news! Now that gives them some more time to work on resecting the tumor. There is a 50% chance they will need to remove part of the arota and replace it with a synthetic piece. But they won't know that until they are in there. He will have all his team on stand by to be ready for what ever move he needs to make. The surgery will be about 4 to 5 hours. He has us at first priority. So we are looking at 6am to 7am on July 9th, we are still waiting on another phone call to confirm times. Thank you all for your continuous prayer! Let's pray for that other 50% game changer move. Praying the tumor comes off the arota smoothly. We are forever grateful for all that has been put in front of us!
UPDATE: 7/2/26:
After two blood transfusions, two platelet transfusions, a few fevers and one skin infection Ajai was able to go home today. She will be going home on TPN, which will be giving her 100 percent of her daily nutrients - in addition to what ever she is able to eat. We are hopeful her weight will increase during this week she is home. July 9th is her scheduled surgery date. We continue to ask for everyone to lift Ajai's name and continue to pray for her. We love you all!
UPDATE 6/2/26: Good morning family and friends. Ajai is undergoing her second round of chemotherapy. She started to have pain and felt nauseous last night. We dont know exactly if the symptoms she is having are from chemotherapy or her stomach is putting pressure on the mass.
Unfortunately Ajais surgeon, Dr Lautz injured his hand. He will be 95% healed by our original surgery date, June 22nd, but he does not want to do the surgery until his hand is 100% healed. He also doesn't not want anyone else to do the surgery. Ajai will still get images done June 18th to see the exact size and what chemotherapy has done to the mass. They would like us to do another round as we wait for Dr Lautz to heal properly. Please pray for Dr Lautz to be fully healed and please continue to pray for Ajai. We appreciate all of the love and support. God is good!
UPDATE: 5/19/26: Ajai is home for the week. She completed her first round of chemotherapy 2 weeks ago and is set to receive her 2nd round next week.
The side effects have been rough on Ajai, especially the hair loss. She was brave enough to shave her head and is excited to try new wigs. We can't thank you all enough for the prayers, donations and shares. This GoFundMe is to help Ajai's family with medical expenses. Thank you all!
UPDATE 5/4/26: Ajai has been diagnosed with composite hemangioendothelioma, and we are facing a challenging journey ahead. She will begin chemotherapy this week to try and shrink the mass before surgery. Our family is incredibly grateful for the love and support we've received so far. We ask that you continue to keep Ajai in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to us. Please like, comment, and share this post to help spread the word and support Ajai in her fight.
UPDATE ON AJAI:
Ajai had a recent MRI, CT, and PET scan done showing no signs of the cancer spreading. We are still awaiting the final biopsy results. We thank you all for the outpouring of love that our family has received. God is hearing our prayers.
Please continue to keep Ajai in her thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
