My name is Sam Selliman and I'm fundraising for my little brother, Alister Agan Selliman - known to his friends as either Ali or Agan - who is currently in Malaysia waiting to undergo treatment after being diagnosed with a cancerous tumor.

When I went back to Aotearoa New Zealand for a visit in 2024, Agan and I would hang out a lot. We'd spend a lot of time together and I'd notice him constantly clutching at his stomach but neither of us took it seriously because it was "just" some sort of stomach pain. Or "I ate too much", or "this always happens." We both dismissed it as something normal.

On a call to mum a couple of weeks back, she'd mentioned that Agan wasn't well, that he'd complained that his stomach pains have increased in frequency. Dad also mentioned that Agan had lost a lot of weight. During this time, Agan and I have been communicating via text but he hadn't mentioned anything to me.

The rapid weight loss prompted Dad to convince Agan to go back to Malaysia [where mum is currently at] and get checked out. Agan flew back on 2/18, went to the doctors and the tumor was found during his colonoscopy on 2/24.

Doctors are now discussing chemo and surgery. As of 2/28, Agan has found a surgeon and talks of the earliest possible operation is underway. Because of how serious the situation is, Agan may need to remain in Malaysia for several months while he goes through treatment and recovery.

Agan is a muralist and a tattoo artist. He co-owns his tattoo studio, Holiday Tattoo in Hamilton, New Zealand. He is a father to a darling daughter, Koryl, a grandfather to two absolutely gorgeous girls, Alayna and Lailah. He is also dad to Kūri, his sidekick Kelpie mix. These are the loves of his life.

Agan is not one to ask for help but he is always the first to help others. He is the type to give you whatever he has even if it means he has to go without. This is just how beautiful my brother is.

Facing cancer treatment overseas brings huge costs and loss of income and with your help, I'd like to ease the financial burden so Agan can focus on overcoming this battle.
