Standing vigil with Kayla & Denis

This GoFundMe account is for my niece Kayla Laflamme & her partner Denis Lemelin.
Kayla & Denis are young first time parents to Braelyn who is in the NICU at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. Braelyn entered this world on Oct. 2 at 34 weeks weighing in at a wee 2lbs 14oz. She spent the first month of her life in Sudbury hospital under preemie care and supervision. Not long after arriving home Mom noticed that she was having spasms and turning an ashen colour. She called an ambulance for the one hour drive back to Sudbury from the small community which is their home. Baby Brae was admitted and released. This occurred three more times and finally on the fourth admittance a call was made to Sick Kids Hospital from HSN. (Sudbury Hospital). Immediately, Braelyn and Mommy were air lifted to Sick Kids. On her arrival she was admitted to the neurology dept, and a few hours later moved into NICU for repeated seizures. Daddy was flown in when the gravity of the situation was realized.
Baby Brae has been diagnosed with Status Epilepticus. She is experiencing both clinical and sub clinical seizures. At this time they do not have answers what is causing this, and the testing is ongoing from many different departments. The duration of her stay at Sick Kids will be long and while the baby is getting the best care she can be given, Mommy & Daddy are staying by her side.
The first five days accommodations for Mom & Dad were over $700.00. As of yesterday, Feb 22/18, they were informed that they had an opening at Ronald MacDonald House and relocated there last night. Any donations will be and are greatly appreciated, and are to assure Kayla and Denis can take care of their regular costs of mortgage and daily bills back home, as well as costs accrued during their extended stay in Toronto, and to assist with travel expenses for grandparents to visit who live respectively 729km & 470 km north of Toronto.
At this time, I am the closest family living in Toronto, and am going back and forth to visit and offer support. I am sure you can appreciate this is an overwhelming time for Kayla & Denis dealing with conversations and being on call 24/7 for continuous calls and information from medical staff and assistance workers. If you wish to extend best wishes, prayers, or send cards & letters of support I will print them out and make sure they get them, so in a quiet moment they can read them.
