Standing Up for Equality — Will You Help?

Hi everyone, my name is Jesse (you might also know me as Brita Filter). I’m a political content creator, activist, and drag performer based in New York City. Over the past few years, I’ve dedicated my platform to making politics accessible, digestible, and empowering for all — especially for LGBTQ+ communities who are too often left out of the conversation.

Tomorrow, I’ve been invited by the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee to Washington, DC, to join the Equality Act Content Creator Row. I’ll be interviewing congressional leaders, creating educational content, and helping spread the word about the urgent need to pass the Equality Act — legislation that would finally guarantee nationwide protections for LGBTQ+ Americans, women, people of color, and religious minorities.

This work means the world to me.

Every video you see — whether it’s from the Capitol steps, a congressional interview, or a Pride event at the White House — is the result of my own personal investment. I usually fund these trips out of my pocket, working drag shows on the weekends to make them happen.

But this time, it’s harder.

A last-minute day trip from NYC to DC, with transportation for myself and my videographer Jacob, is stretching my budget to the breaking point — so much so that I’m using my rent money for May to cover the costs.

I hesitated to ask for help because I like to be self-sufficient. But this work isn’t about me — it’s about showing up for our community when it matters most. And it matters now more than ever.

I’m humbly asking for your support to help cover the cost of our Amtrak tickets and local travel — no frills, no extras — just the basics to get us to DC and back to do this crucial work.
