I am raising funds to secure legal representation after I was wrongfully terminated for wearing a patriotic shirt featuring the American flag and the message: “America: Live it, love it or get out.” I believe this decision was based on an administrator’s personal bias toward my political expression rather than any legitimate workplace policy, relying on subjective offense instead of established standards. My termination may violate key legal protections, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and Seattle Municipal Code 14.04, which protects against discrimination based on political ideology and national origin.
I am seeking justice not only for myself, but to help ensure that employees’ rights to express their beliefs and national pride are respected in the workplace. The funds will go directly toward retaining a civil rights attorney, drafting and sending an initial demand letter, and representation during the mediation process. I have filed complaints with the Office of Civil Rights and the EEOC and have received a “right to sue.” Attorneys I’ve consulted with have indicated that I have a strong case.
Any contribution—big or small—helps me take a stand for these fundamental rights. Thank you for your support.
