Hi my name is Dylan and I’m fundraising for our family friend and I’m asking for the help of others who a more fortunate.
Sometimes the most powerful help comes from people who have never met in person. I am starting this GoFundMe for our family friends- Eunice and her family in the Philippines, to share their story and ask for help during a medical crisis they never expected. They did not ask for this fundraiser to be created —but it comes from a place of love, concern, and the belief that kindness knows no borders. This page exists to show that no matter where we are in the world, when someone is suffering, people can come together to help. What Eunice and her family are going through is every family’s worst nightmare.
On December 27, Eunice’s father, Reyne, was admitted to the hospital after becoming seriously ill. What the family hoped would be a short stay quickly turned into a prolonged and frightening fight for his life. Reyne has since been diagnosed with Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Chronic Kidney Disease (Stage 3), osteoarthritis, hypertension, and diabetes — a serious and complex combination of conditions that requires continuous medical care.
Because of the severity of his condition, Reyne had no choice but to be admitted to a private hospital. Even without ICU care, the medical expenses have already reached 600,000 pesos (over $15,000 AUD) and continue to rise each day. If Reyne were to require ICU treatment, the cost would reach millions of pesos, which is simply impossible for the family to afford.
Eunice reached out to our friend group in desperation but we ourselves can’t cover that amount ourselves : In Eunice’s words.
“Can I knock on your hearts today? In two days we need to get out of the hospital, and our bill is really big. We are already at 600,000 pesos. We have approached some government agencies, but it’s still not enough. I’m taking the risk to ask for help, no matter how much, and I will be very grateful.”
The hospital requires a large portion of the bill to be settled in order for Reyne to remain under care or be safely discharged. This means the family is under immediate pressure to raise funds within days, while still trying to ensure Reyne receives the treatment he urgently needs.
Despite the fear and exhaustion, the support they have received so far has been incredibly moving. Friends and loved ones have donated what they can — often small amounts — and each donation has been a reminder that they are not alone. This fundraiser exists because of that same belief: when people stand together, even small acts of generosity can create real hope.
Right now, Eunice and her family need help so they can focus on what truly matters — Reyne’s recovery, comfort, and dignity — without the constant fear of mounting medical bills or being forced into impossible decisions.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donates, shares, or keeps this family in their thoughts. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to help — no matter where you are in the world truly matters.
Together, we can help carry this family through one of the hardest moments of their lives. May God bless you and prosper you with your kind heart. Any help is appreciated
