Standing Strong with Sarah

Sarah Robinson. Daughter. Wife. Mother. Sister. Aunt. Niece. Granddaughter. Friend. Entrepreneur.

In 2019 Sarah’s story changed drastically, in ways that would forever affect her and those around her. After going to the hospital with what was expected to be a run of the mill gastroenteritis, Sarah received the most devastating news. She had cancer. Colon cancer at 33. Cancer 2 years after getting married and in the middle of law school. Cancer after finally getting back on her feet and looking forward to life after the sudden unexpected death of her father that left her so crippled years earlier.

The cancer was initially thought to have been caught early and treated successfully with surgery alone. A touch of chemotherapy out of an abundance of caution. Unfortunately, the cancer came back in Sarah’s liver. Why not a little portal vein embolization before a major liver resection followed by another promise of remission? More chemo, second line, then third, then fourth. Drains and drains and drains.

Sarah has fought hard and with beauty, grace, and courage. Sarah has been keeping the details of her illness very private, in an attempt to keep those closest to her protected at all costs. Unfortunately, Sarah’s battle has taken a turn and she is no longer able to work.

Our dear friend Sarah Robinson needs our help. And we all know that she would never ask on her own. Many of us have felt helpless and have wondered what we can possibly do to help this incredible person. I wish we could give her more years. Take away her pain. Send her off to Scotland (Thanks Covid).  Illness has incurred unanticipated expenses that are overwhelming. Everything is hard for everyone right now. The smallest contribution will help Sarah and Carlos with this battle, create time for them to be together, bring them some peace. Time together is precious.  Your contribution will help Sarah with her financial burden as a result of uncovered medical expenses and inability to work here on forward. After donating, please share this page and send out your positive thoughts to help Sarah. We will be providing updates as Sarah’s conditions changes- please refrain from texting her at this time.

In closing, I can’t help but share my favorite story about Sarah Robinson. After a night out with some girlfriends Sarah found herself a kabuki cab and was making her way home. She came upon a young girl that was clearly frightened and being harassed by a group of young men in close pursuit, and quickly came to her aid by offering her a ride on the kabuki cab express. Shortly after, the pair came across a building with an abundance of smoke bellowing out the windows. Without a second thought Sarah ran into the building to awake the young man who’s apartment was about to be overtaken by flames, saving his life. She then got back on the kabuki express and made her way home, to sit up with me all hours of the night while I figured out how to care for a newborn, never telling anyone else about her heroic adventure.

To the person that has lived and loved and laughed without judgement. To the one that goes placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remembers what peace there may be in silence. To my dearest friend Sarah Robinson.
