Standing Strong with Nihaal Singh, Aged 9, as He Battles Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Hello, we are Hetal and Ranveer, proud parents of an incredible 9-year-old boy, Nihaal Singh, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in 2019.

DMD is a rare, progressive muscle-wasting condition that gradually takes away muscle strength, making everyday tasks more difficult over time. Since Nihaal's diagnosis, life has changed in ways we could never have imagined, filled with hospital visits, medical equipment, therapy sessions, emotional and physical challenges, and countless hours spent researching to better our understanding of the condition.

Each day brings hurdles that most families never have to think about, from assisting Nihaal throughout the day as mobility becomes harder, to managing complex care routines, adapting our home, and navigating a condition that continues to progress

We watch our brave boy face difficulties that no child should ever have to endure. On the outside, he is full of laughter, curiosity, and big dreams, but behind the scenes, every day is a careful balance of adapting, adjusting, and holding on to hope.

As time goes on, he will need a powered wheelchair, home adaptations (such as a stair lift or accessible bathroom), specialist medical equipment, and ongoing therapy, much of which is not fully funded by the NHS or local services.

Our most urgent need right now is to fund an electric power add-on for his manual wheelchair, something the NHS does not provide. This add-on will allow him to ride alongside his siblings when they’re out on their bikes, giving him the chance to enjoy those moments of freedom, inclusion, and independence that every child deserves.
