We were hoping we didn’t get to this point in Angelena’s cancer journey, but unfortunately, here we are. Angelena was very reluctant to allow anyone to set up a fundraiser at all, but we are running on empty. First and foremost, we want to thank everyone for all the prayers and emotional support we have received so far.
Let me tell you about my amazing, beautiful daughter, Angelena Gomez. Angie is 20 years old. She lost her father in 2022 when she was just 16 years old. The following spring of 2023, Angie graduated high school at age 17. She has worked for the same employer through most of her high school years and is still technically employed but on unpaid leave. This past summer, she financed a vehicle all on her own with no co-signer. She’s really becoming a responsible young adult, and I am very proud of her!
Unfortunately, on October 28, 2025, we got the most devastating news of our lives. At age 19, my baby girl was diagnosed with a very rare but aggressive form of cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma. She had swollen lymph nodes for a while, then the migraines started, followed by bouts of vomiting. We took her to Mott’s Children’s Hospital emergency room, and the doctors quickly found a 4cm mass in her nasal cavity near her brain. The lymph nodes are also full of cancer, along with the base of her skull and down her neck. Surgery was not an option due to the cancer being too close to her brain. She was biopsied on a Tuesday, and by that Saturday, she was given her first round of chemo. I am very grateful to her doctors here at Mott’s. They are brilliant and are treating the cancer very aggressively.
She will be receiving her last round of chemo on January 27, 2026. She is also getting immunotherapy, which will continue to be given every 21 days. However, she also needs a very high amount of radiation, which was started on January 6, 2026. Angie needs 35 days of radiation to hopefully kill the cancer. We are on day 14. We are currently commuting from Howell to Ann Arbor and back every day, Monday through Friday. We could really use your help with costs of gas and keeping her car maintained while we are piling the miles on her car. Also, with her and I both not being able to work, our bills are starting to pile up.
Watching her suffer like this has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Most of you know me pretty well, and I’ve always been able to make things happen for my kids. But this, I have no control over, and it’s literally tearing me apart.
Angie would literally give the shirt off her back for anyone in need. She has always been a very caring and kind-hearted person. I’m hoping to ease her mind a little with her car payment, insurance, gas, and maintenance, along with the cost of just living while she is battling this awful disease. Whatever you’re able to donate will be very appreciated. If you’re not able to donate, a simple share will also be appreciated! Thank you all!
