My name is Jordan, and I am grieving the loss of something most people never even think about—my ability to simply walk.

Not long ago, I was that guy. Out on the golf course at sunrise. Laughing with friends while trying every water sport I could get my hands on. Hiking, moving, living. My body carried me anywhere I wanted to go, and I took it for granted—because who ever imagines they’ll lose something as basic as walking?

Then came the diagnosis: psychotropic neuropathy. A condition so cruel it slowly robs you of your strength and leaves you watching your independence slip through your fingers. At first, it was just pain. Then weakness. And now? I rely on a cane just to make it through the day.

There is a kind of heartbreak that comes from watching life shrink around you. From seeing people run, play, move with ease—while you sit on the sidelines, remembering what it felt like to be free in your own body. I can’t golf anymore. I can’t get out on the water. Even walking across the room feels like a battle I’m losing.

Doctors say there’s a path forward. With special AFO braces, intensive physical therapy, and ongoing treatments, I could hold onto hope, maybe even regain some of what I’ve lost. But that path comes with a price tag I cannot face alone. The braces, the therapy, the endless doctor visits, the tests—it’s all more than I can carry on my own.

And so here I am, asking for help in the most humbling moment of my life.
