Just three weeks ago, our family’s world was turned upside down when my father-in-law, Doug, was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia). What started as feeling unwell quickly became a long term hospital stay, countless tests, and the life-changing news that he is facing this aggressive cancer.
Doug began chemotherapy treatments immediately after beating pneumonia the first time and has been in and out of the ICU ever since. On top of battling leukemia, he is now fighting pneumonia AGAIN—making this already uphill battle even more challenging.
Doug has always been a hardworking, selfless man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Now, he’s had to stop working to focus entirely on treatment and recovery. This has left my mother-in-law, Dianna, as the only one working—while also managing their home, handling bills, and spending every possible moment by Doug’s side in the hospital.
On top of medical expenses, they are now facing the cost of making updates to their home so Doug can safely and comfortably return once he’s strong enough. He also needs a hearing aid to improve his quality of life—another expense insurance won’t fully cover.
Our family is coming together to support them through this incredibly hard time, but the costs of travel, meals, medical care, household updates, and everyday bills are adding up quickly. We want Doug and Dianna to focus on what matters most—fighting for Doug’s health—without the constant stress of financial strain OR WORRY.
If you’re able to help, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of love, support, and prayer counts in Doug’s fight.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of Doug’s journey.
With love and gratitude,
— The Alford Family
