As many of you may know, Dad fell while doing one of his many acts of service to the community. He went in for surgery to repair a broken femur. After going back into surgery on the first attempt, he coded shortly after being sedated. Doctors discovered he had a massive blood clot that had traveled to his left lung. He had to be intubated for several days and required blood clots to be removed on two separate occasions. As of now, he’s approaching day 7 in the hospital, with 5 of those days spent in the ICU at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.

We can’t say enough about the ICU nurses and doctors there — they’ve been absolutely amazing. Their skill, compassion, and constant care have made a difficult situation so much more manageable, and we’re deeply grateful for everything they’ve done for our dad.

My sister Gretchen and I are doing everything we can to be there for him. Gretchen and I have both spent as much time as possible by his side, with her taking over the load as I had to get back to work. This has been a much longer and more difficult stay than we expected, and we’re committed to staying present through his recovery. Whether that means continuing to be at the hospital, helping during rehabilitation, or supporting him once he’s able to come home.

Any support raised will go primarily toward helping our dad with the costs related to his extended hospital stay, rehabilitation, and recovery at home. It will also help offset some of the travel expenses Gretchen and I are facing so we can continue being there for him without added financial strain.

We’re taking this one day at a time and holding onto hope. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you’re able to give, it truly means more than we can say.
