My name is Jenna, and I’m trying to raise funds to support my dear friend.

After already having an incredibly tough year, coming out of a rough relationship and having to build a new home from scratch, she’s now been involved in a hit-and-run that has completely written off her car.

I’m not the type of person who would normally start something like this – we’re both fiercely independent women – but the reality is that her insurance has already cost her just to get the car recovered. And given it was a van that hit her and she drives a little Aygo, you can imagine the rest...

She’s a hardworking, single mum and a nurse who worked throughout the pandemic. She even contributed to the research that helped develop the Covid vaccine (you can hear her on a podcast if you know where to look!). And honestly, I’m exhausted watching her be knocked down again and again this year.

It would be incredible if those who clapped for nurses during the pandemic, or anyone who has ever been impacted by abuse, could recognise the ongoing hardships that single mums quietly endure – the kind of things that hit us right at the core.

So I’m hoping people can find it in themselves to help her, to give her a bit of hope, and to show her that kindness still exists.
