Joshua Russo is currently facing a difficult and life-altering multi medical journey that has him in a paraplegic state and right now he is going through the worst phase of this horrible disease! For years, long before his diagnosis Josh began to experience severe symptoms of gait instability and falls in which Drs couldn’t find answers for. He suffered with extreme neurological pain, severe nervous system disorder and it has completely taken over his life. As of 2025 he has been diagnosed with a primary condition called CIDP/CISP, a rare autoimmune disorder in which his body mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath within his spinal cord. This rare disease has attacked his dorsal nerve roots causing demyelination within the spinal cord. This process started in the nerve roots from the Basel Ganglion down the spinal cord. This condition is severely impacting his spinal cord and leaving him unable to walk or stand. Limiting the brain signals to and from the nerves due to the demyelination. He is also diagnosed with many other health conditions including FND secondary to his CISP & PNES seizures. Neurogenic bladder disease. His condition also has caused other complicated health problems.
He is currently on 100 grams of Previgen IVIG Infusion every three weeks! But as a result, he has been permanently confined to a wheelchair for over a year and is struggling with the loss of independence that once defined his daily life. On top of this, Joshua recently underwent a major back surgery revision of the L4/L5 fusion where bigger hardware had to be put in along with new bone graph as the first surgery failed to do so and is now in a long and challenging recovery process. Due to his condition, he is unable to work and doesn’t know if he’ll ever walk or stand again. He is actively fighting for disability benefits with the help of an attorney, but the process is extremely lengthy and uncertain. In the meantime, he urgently needs support to cover mounting medical bills, transportation, travel for treatments, medications, and essential living expenses. Any help during this time would make a meaningful difference in easing the burden he is carrying and allowing him to focus on healing.
