Hi, my name is Logan. I was born with cerebral palsy and dystonia leaving me with chronic pain that won’t go away for the rest of my life. I have had multiple operations and surgeries trying to make my life easier to live. The first big surgery I had was on my birthday, August 4 2020. I had to have my hips put back into place because my CP popped them out. The doctors told my mom this would help but the pain from recovery was so unbearable, I never wanted to see another doctor again. My body went into VTAC and so many doctors ran into my room. I’ve never seen my mom so scared. Once we left that hospital, the pain didn’t go away like it should. I couldn’t roll around anymore, I couldn’t bend my legs, and I couldn’t put any pressure on my hips. In 2023, i had to get the metal plate removed from my leg. By this time, we were living here in North Carolina and the doctor promised me and my mom he would be gentle with my body. Thankfully, he was. I still never felt right and my pain just kept getting worse. We reached out to an old doctor to see if he could point us to the right direction of a doctor here that could help with medication and pain. Luckily, we found Dr. Barton. She has been kind and gentle to me since I first met her. Dr. Barton told my mom last year that our options were slimming. I would either have to live in pain and not make it to my 20’s. It hurt my moms heart when she said that. The only other option to try was another surgery- a very rough, hard in the body surgery. My mom and dad thought a lot about it and after meeting with the surgeon who would be performing it, they felt comfortable enough to at least hear him out. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. The surgeon would have to open my spine and find the nerves that are causing my pain (not sure how they do that but they get paid the big bucks not me) and then cut them. I went in for that surgery March of this year. I was scared. Thankfully I had my mom, my grandma and my aunt with me. My dad FaceTimed me everyday so I could see my dog. Although the surgery helped a lot and I felt much better than I ever have I am still in alot of pain. I wish I could explain how the pain works so someone could understand it too. It’s like sharp pains shooting through my body but at the same time someone it poking needles in my legs. I have spasms in my legs like the ones you sometimes might get in the middle of the night that keep you awake all night but for me they last every day multiple times a day. I have a hard time sitting in my car seat because of the way my body has to be positioned. At this point, I’m only comfortable in my wheelchair. I can’t stay in my wheelchair in the car though and we are in the car quite a bit with my appointments and therapy. My parents are trying to raise money to buy me a handicap van. They are very expensive though. If you would be willing to help, we would be so grateful! All donations are going directly to funding a handicap van for Logan❤️
We can not thank each and every one of you enough for thinking of Logan and trying to help us get this van for him. His pain is more severe every day! Please keep sharing and tell everyone you can! Every donation helps!
