Stand with Xavier: A veterans health battle

He is a 31 year old US Navy Veteran who served 4 years as a logistics Specialist on the USS Gerald R Ford CVN-78 aircraft carrier. After his 4 years were completed in 2021, he returned to what felt like normal life for about a year and then

In 2022, after a routine doctors appointment he received a call from the clinic, encouraging him to get to the nearest hospital.

This is when he learned that he was in Stage 4 Kidney Failure at 30 years old from an infection he sustained in the Navy. Today he is now in stage 5 Kidney failure.

After almost dying In March he was hospitalized to recieve Emergency Dialysis and By the Grace Of God Xavier made it through and survived.

The doctors then told him that his heart was starting to fail and they suspect the cause to be his failed Kidneys. Now while he waits his heart is also failing and may cause him to loose his place on the transplant list.

Last year I went in to be tested for kidney donation, thinking that I could do something to help him but sadly, I was rejected for having triple renal arteries. My inability to donate one of my kidneys led me to create the Facebook and TikTok pages “A kidney for Xavier” in hope that someone out there may be willing to donate a kidney to my friend.

Every Kidney Failure patient is different and most of them are unable to work, like my friend Xavier. Dialysis is a rough treatment on the body and working is not a reality for everyone. My friend now experiences low drops in blood pressure that lead to him passing out or needing oxygen. The pressure on his heart are his doctors main focus so that he will not lose his spot on the list.

Those of us close to Xavier work very close and hard to make sure we can help him as much as we can but his loss of income for other life expenses has started to hit him. By request of several kind souls online I have now created his GoFundMe to alleviate some of his worries when he should be focusing on preserving his health.
