Update: We've stretched our goal! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated--we can't tell you how much it means, and we're overwhelmed by how supportive our community has been. We're increasing the goal today because the more we raise, the more work our lawyer can do to deep every possible option open for us.
Woodbridge Park residents are concerned about a 5-story, 131-unit apartment development proposed for the heart of our residential neighborhood. This project is dramatically out of scale with surrounding buildings, but recent city and state laws allow certain affordable housing developments to bypass long-standing safeguards that protect communities. As a result, this project exceeds normal height limits, provides only ONE parking space for the entire building, requires no traffic or environmental studies for approval, and proceeds with no community outreach or public hearing.
We support affordable housing, but we're asking for responsible development that respects the existing neighborhood and its limited infrastructure.
We are working with our City Councilmember to mitigate some of the project's impacts on our neighborhood. At the same time, one family has retained an attorney to help our community understand our legal options. Your donation will help cover legal costs so our neighborhood can seek fair, responsible solutions.
Thank you for caring about Woodbridge Park and for standing with your neighbors.
