First, I want to say thank you to everyone who has donated, supported us, sent well wishes, all of it.
Our probate court hearing is set for September 3rd in Maine. I need to be there for the court date if I have any hope of gaining control of my mom's estate. Times have been hard, financially, mentally, and emotionally, to be honest, and I sincerely hate asking for help.
I know times are hard for many people, but if you have a little extra to help us out, I would be beyond appreciative. I need to start making travel arrangements to get up there for a few days, and I'm absolutely strapped (that's an understatement). Any help would be amazing.
For those who don't know, my mom passed away unexpectedly in December (2024). She did not have a will, and her boyfriend is now fighting me to take control of her estate. He has been beyond difficult and, honestly, nasty towards us. He somehow believes that their 3-year relationship trumps her children? I really didn't want it to come to this; it could have been all resolved very civilly, which was my hope, but he refused and lawyered up immediately. He even called the cops on my brother and me for pulling into the driveway of my MOM'S house and had us removed from the property.
Though many people are under the impression that he doesn't have a chance in court, due to the wording of Maine law, he does. A good one. He didn't even come to her funeral, changed his relationship status the day after she passed, and started looking for a roommate in my mom's house two days after she passed. It's all beyond heartbreaking. We haven't been able to properly mourn.
That being said, we would appreciate all the help we can get so I can fight for what is rightfully ours. She had all of our childhood mementos, photo albums, family jewelry, etc., that I do not have access to at this point. I just want this to be over with so I can put her to rest peacefully like she deserves.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, share, or donate. I appreciate it.
