Stand with Us for Independent Art & Uncensored Stories
The Half King is dead, long live The Half King!
We're Phuong and Hung, co-founders of Zeitgeist Zentrum – a cultural hub and language school in Berlin dedicated to challenging superficial narratives and shedding light on the interconnected realities of our world. Our mission is to open conversations, challenge perceptions, and inspire action. And we need your help to continue that work with our new Half King Photography Series.
For nearly a decade, the original Half King Series, curated by Anna Van Lenten in NYC, was more than just an art exhibition – it was a platform for deep conversations about global issues. Now, we're bringing that legacy to Berlin, partnering with Anna to revive the series at Zeitgeist Zentrum.
Berlin has always been a city of cultural change, but independent art spaces are vanishing, and funding cuts are silencing the voices that matter most. We refuse to let that happen!
This isn't about aesthetics – it's about war, refugees, environmental destruction, and human rights. It's about confronting injustice and amplifying the voices of those who've witnessed these crises firsthand. We will provide a platform for real dialogue, where you can ask hard questions and connect with the artists.
Why We Need You
Independent spaces like ours rely on community support. With Berlin’s cultural funding being slashed, we’re standing firm: we’ll build this space with or without them—but we need your help.
Your support will help us:
- Cover travel & accommodation for the photographers
- Fund exhibition costs, including printing, framing, and installation
- Host live events with moderators, translators (where needed), and outreach
- Create a place for real, meaningful conversations
This is more than an exhibition—it’s a movement. A stand for independent culture, truth, and voices that refuse to be silenced.
