Stand with Us for Declan's Miracle Against Cancer

Behind the walls of our home, there has been a cry to heaven from a secret place of heartache and brokenness. It is a cry that has taken on many forms and sounds as we have walked out tragedy and healing over the past several years.
Six years ago, my dad received a diagnosis of colon cancer; he died a few months later in an automobile accident. In 2021, Daniel and I walked through a divorce that shattered our family. As God was working to restore our marriage and family, Daniel received a diagnosis of blood cancer. Five months after that, my mom received a diagnosis of two different kinds of blood cancer, and I quickly became a caretaker of 2 loved ones fighting for their lives. After a two-year battle, my mom went to be with my dad in heaven.
As we began learning to walk through life without my mom, Daniel and I remarried on December 22, 2024. Shortly after our restoration, tragedy struck our home yet again - one that would supersede the pain we endured over the last six years.
Frightening screams shook us from our sleep as our eleven year old son, Declan cried out from an excruciating pain in his back. His condition led us to various doctor appointments, tests, and medical procedures while he was in the hospital for five days. When he was finally released, our family went home with multiple diagnoses looming over our heads, two of which were a rare liver cancer and a juvenile form of osteoporosis.
Once again, our family was facing another battle with cancer, but this time it was our Sweet Declan. Our hearts were broken…
The months to follow were a whirlwind. Not only were we fighting for Declan’s life and his healing, but we found ourselves fighting to keep our rights as his parents to make medical decisions for him. While pursuing a second opinion and working with medical doctors outside of the oncology team, we were forced to hire a lawyer and to travel out of state to receive the medical treatment that was needed.
As we began to navigate what steps to take regarding Declan’s healing process, I left my position of twenty years to be with him as he began to undergo chemotherapy in March 2025, which took place in a hospital out of state. Overnight, he went from being a kiddo who never had the flu or took Tylenol to one who underwent countless medical procedures and treatments. While home, Declan sees multiple doctors who provide alternative treatments to build up his immune system and provide nutritional support, which insurance doesn’t cover. With uncovered medical treatments, legal and travel expenses (i.e. hotels, gas, tolls, food), we quickly faced bills which exceeded over $75,000 and continues to grow.
Amid this storm of trying to pay for everyday living expenses and facing these new obstacles, our family has been facing challenging housing situations. Right before Daniel began fighting his battle with cancer, he started an entire renovation process on the house that he bought when we were separated. This came to a complete stop while he went through his healing journey. Still under construction, he has been working on it when he can find spare time while we are in between Declan’s appointments and work. We have currently been living in my mom’s old home since she died, but a decision needs to be made regarding the house.
During this medical crisis, we know that we have several GIANTS standing in front of us, so we are humbly coming to ask you for your support and help to continue the restoration and healing that has begun in our family. Throughout this journey, we have had to cling to God, moment by moment. He has showed up time and time again, and we wait expectantly to see His miracle unfold completely.
