Assist Trudy Evans with her Medical Journey
Donation protected
My dear friend, Trudy Evans, is facing major medical issues, including a bone infection and below-the-knee amputation in mid-May.
Trudy has been an integral part of the Cushing Community for many, many years. Trudy graduated from Yale High School in 1981 and moved to Cushing in 1986. She owned Erwin’s Office Supply for many years and worked on Oklahoma Corridor Magazine. Trudy also served on the Cushing School Board for 16 years. She has one daughter, named Kayla, who is a 2013 graduate of Cushing High School.
In 2019, Trudy had an infection in her leg that landed her in the hospital for nine days. After being released from the hospital, she thought her medical woes were behind her. Following recent swelling in her foot, further tests were run, detecting osteomyelitis, an infection that had severely deteriorated the bones in her foot. Several bone and body scans later it was determined that her foot was too far gone and it needs to be amputated. Her surgery is scheduled for May 16th. After surgery, Trudy will be in physical therapy to learn how to function without her foot. It will be a long road to recovery but Trudy is upbeat and positive!!
Trudy and Kayla make a living by babysitting and nannying, pet sitting all sorts of animals around the Cushing area, and a death benefit from Trudy’s late husband, Brian Evans.
Trudy has an $800 deductible that will have to be met, as well as copays for medicines, lost wages due to recovery, and further copays for follow up appointments.
A fundraiser meal is in the works with silent baking and art auction-more details to come.
Any donations will go directly to Trudy to pay for medical and living expenses.
