When I started my business, I just wanted one thing: better food options on the powwow trail.
As a Type 2 diabetic, I struggled to find anything to eat at powwows that wouldn’t spike my sugars. I knew I couldn’t be the only one—so I decided to do something about it.
I won’t claim everything I make is perfectly healthy (gotta have flavor!), but it is a better option for people like me who are trying to eat more mindfully. And that matters—because diabetes is everywhere in our Native communities.
Wild rice (manoomin) has always had my heart. I worked with it since 2015 buying and selling and spent years experimenting, blending tradition with creativity. Cooking is truly my love language. When someone tells me, “That was the best dish I’ve ever had,” or when my kids ask me to make something again—it fuels my fire. ❤️
But today… my setup was destroyed by the storm. Broken tents, tipped tables, ripped fabric, brand new roasters gone. I pulled up and felt crushed.
Then I saw my friend Grandon Diver already picking up the pieces. He was salvaging what he could before I even got there. I’m so thankful for you, Diver.
I still set up under a busted tent and made do with just wild rice fruit parfaits and berry bowls—and people still showed up.
I’ll rebuild. It might take time, but I’m not quitting. This isn’t just a business—it’s my way of making a difference.
Thank you to everyone who supported me this weekend for Sturgeon Moon. If you tried something, I’d love your honest feedback—good or bad. Every word helps me grow.

Goal eventually will be a food trailer . For now I will try and raise enough to buy stronger tents and upgrade with better weight system and stronger tent material. Finish the powwow season and get enough for down payment for food trailer .
