Join me in supporting sweet Tonya in this time of difficulty. I have been Tonya’s hair stylist for over 10 years. She has become a close friend and sister in Christ. When I heard this news my heart sank. Tonya is so Brave and Strong with her Lord, family and friends by her side I know she will get through this! Tonya will be undergoing 21 weeks of chemo treatments. Then a double mastectomy, with radiation following. As a woman my heart ached at what she will be facing and knowing she would loose her hair very quickly. I know it’s just hair but as women this is a very difficult thing to face. I found a website that custom makes wigs for people with cancer out of their OWN hair! It is costly because a wig expert will hand sow and custom make this wig. Tonya will more than likely be wearing this wig for a year and a half at the least. It will I know give her a feeling of comfort to be wearing her own hair. I am reaching out to the community of friends and family to join me to raise money to make this possible. When I asked Tonya if I could do this she felt uncomfortable, she has had so many people ask what they can do. So for now this is something you can do to help. This is the need for the moment. Also pray!! Lift Tonya up in prayer dailey! I can do ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME! 

Tonya’Story

January 23rd is a day that I will never forget. The doctor reviewing my mammogram and ultrasound sound said, “There is no need to sugar coat this. It’s malignant and I’m also concerned about this lymph node.” Of course there was more but that was enough!

Just moments before, I had sent a Snapchat message to my husband eluding to the fact that this was taking way too long. We rarely communicate via Snapchat unless it’s with our children. I’m surprised he even looked at it. Low and behold just a few seconds after I received the news, he was knocking on the door of my treatment room. He must have superhuman powers that I don’t know about! Without me telling him exactly what was going on - he knew and got there in 60 seconds!

Since that day, our lives have changed...drastically. Despite every effort to maintain normalcy. I went from worrying about how I would get to the kid’s games on time to how many more games will I get to see? Snuggling extra long with my husband - my head on his heart so I could hear it beat. Praying that God allow me the strength to overcome this battle so I could continue my life as a wife and mother. Not to mention my awesome - new career at the VA. My life before cancer was pretty sweet! I’m not ready to give this up!!

As a woman of faith, I also know that God’s plans are not mine. He knew cancer was in my plan! Therefore, He would throughly prepare me! And boy has he ever! I’ve never felt so alive and so loved!! God’s people are lifting me and my family up in ways I would have never imagined! I know - just as I prayed - that God’s desire is to use me as a vessel to draw my family and others closer to HIM!

Treatment will be no easy feat. Harsh but necessary. Of course I’m worried about the devastating effects that chemotherapy will bring. Hair loss being one of my biggest!! Losing my identity is something I have to come to terms with but it doesn’t define who I am!!

The perfect storm! So here I go Lord - facing 2019 full force - with all of your warriors by my side! Let’s accomplish your goals and mine!
